  1. Love to read all the history of my hometown! I can’t wait to read this to my mom, she will really enjoy this! Thank you Jeff for all of your hard work.

  2. The new owners are no strangers to Walton’s story, and they are very excited to bring the property back to its former glory! Great article… if you have any knowledge about Thomas Piché, the gentleman that was William Krome’s secretary, I’d love to hear it.

  3. I always enjoy reading things like this, especially when my family is the one being described in the article. My grandmother is the granddaughter of William Karl Walton and Margie Smith Walton. My grandmother remembers visiting this house only once, but as she recalls, it really was a nice house. We have a few pictures of my grandmother’s father at the Walton House and of the laborers who worked with the avocados, etc.

  4. I was very happy to be given the opportunity to put a new roof on the second Walton house. The current owner is wonderful! The house has been kept as close to original as possible.

  5. Always interesting, Jeff. With so many of the prominent folks of Homestead all KKK members it’s easy to see how Jim Crow lingered in the area (probably Florida in general) so late, the colored quarter, etc., 1970s at least.
